About Umora Fashion

Where Dreams Manifest

From a family of textile traders in Kalbadevi and MJ Market, to Little Angels in 2004, to Umora Fashion today — a manufacturing house for knitwear, T-shirts, headwear, kidswear and home textiles, built on one promise: what’s said is said.

Our story

Built on goodwill, not just good work.

Umora is built upon the goodwill of Late Shri Sitaram Madhavlal Dayama, Late Shri Atul S. Dayama, and the goodwill that Little Angels has earned over the last 22 years. Our family’s roots are in the textile markets of Kalbadevi and MJ Market in Mumbai — where business was done on trust, a handshake and a man’s word.

In 2004, Mrs. Meenakshi Dayama started Little Angels, an infant and kidswear brand that grew into a name trusted by parents, retailers and online shoppers across India. Over the years the family business grew across cities, channels and categories — from offline retail and large-format chains to marketplaces and D2C.

Sarthak and Palak Dayama founded Umora Fashion Private Limited to bring all of it under one roof: flatbed knitting, circular knits, caps and headwear, kids and infant wear, and home textiles — one partner, one quality standard, one promise.

Some things go beyond money. We call it the Power of Zubaan — what’s said is said, come what may.

The founders

Two very different people. One company.

One builds systems. The other drives projects with an adrenaline rush. The combination is what makes Umora unique — and fun to work with.

Journey & philosophy

A fourth-generation textile entrepreneur, Sarthak was born into a family of textile traders with roots in Kalbadevi and MJ Market. Yet his own journey began far from the cloth market — at MTV in 2004. He went on to write as a columnist for DNA (Pune edition) and then explored the retail side of business, heading marketing at Inorbit Mall and Center One Mall.

His entrepreneurial journey started as a graphologist and trainer at Know Thyself, where he worked with leading MNCs and Fortune 500 companies and was an exclusive trainer to the Navi Mumbai Police, the Crime Branch and several other government agencies — work that taught him how people think, decide and trust.

In 2014 he joined the family business to support his mother in her venture, Little Angels, and then worked alongside his father to expand the business with retail giants such as Future Group and Reliance Industries. He started selling on Amazon in 2016 and has a deep, hands-on understanding of the Indian online market. He took the family business to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Southern India, learned the dynamics of offline retail, and built the supply chain behind it.

Over the last 12 years, Sarthak has multiplied and expanded the business by doing one thing consistently: understanding exactly what the buyer needs, and delivering an experience that moves from customer delight to customer wow.

At heart, Sarthak is a systems person. He loves creating systems that are simple to execute, sustainable in different environments and scalable — so that quality never depends on one person having a good day.

He is a well-known speaker, visiting faculty, jury member and panelist at institutes including MET Institute of Management (Mumbai), SIES College of Management Studies (Navi Mumbai), Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Management, BMCC (Pune) and NIFT Mumbai — and is always curious to learn something new.

Palak Pritmani Dayama

The engine room

Palak Pritmani Dayama comes from a family in the iron and steel fabrication business. With an MBA in HR, she built her own career at Café Coffee Day, where she headed Western India and hired people across levels — first from Bangalore and later from the Mumbai office. Years of leading people, building teams and running many outlets and deadlines at once shaped the leader she is today.

At home, she was the one who had chosen a different path, but being around a family business naturally made her curious about how it worked. Listening to conversations about the business, she slowly developed her own inclination to understand it. So, on weekends, she started going in and learning the basics — understanding barcodes, opening threads, seeing how finishing was done and getting a feel for the smallest details of how the business worked, simply for the fun of learning something new.

What started as curiosity gradually became a deeper understanding of business. In 2017 she joined Little Angels full time, took charge of operations from Sarthak and Meenakshi Dayama, and within two years was single-handedly running operations and the daily affairs of the business.

Today Palak is the operations person at Umora. Beyond flatbed knitting, she drives the daily operations of circular knits, caps and headwear and the kids division. She leads the merchandisers, the warehouses and the buyers’ teams — and she helps young D2C brands get started with practical first-order quantities, so a good idea doesn’t die waiting for a big first order.

Where Sarthak builds systems, Palak drives projects with full adrenaline. People love working with her because she is absolutely honest — about design, colour palettes, pricing and deadlines. She will let an order go if she feels it cannot be delivered on time, rather than say yes and delay a customer’s launch. That honesty is the reason brands come back.

A mother to a four-year-old boy, Palak wears many hats — and wears every one of them brilliantly.

How we work

The values we built Umora on.

01

Failures are celebrated

Teams that don’t waste time hiding failures build better systems, trust and accountability. Failure is a sign of trying something new — and we try more than most.

02

Systems over heroics

Simple to execute, sustainable in any environment and scalable. Good systems make quality repeatable for every order, not just the first one.

03

Honest yes, honest no

We would rather decline an order than miss your date. Clear answers on pricing, timelines and feasibility — from day one.

04

The Power of Zubaan

What’s said is said, come what may. Four generations of goodwill are not something we trade for one order.
